👩🏻 Hello!
I'm Kirbee, a web developer in Canada. My professional work has primarily been on marketing properties in large-ish businesses. I'm not really a flashy developer - I like to build simple systems and prefer working to improve user experience over flashy sites. I also love debugging.
I got started in web development when I won a draw to get a premade Petz website back in the early 2000s. In an effort to best showcase my digital dalmatians, I learned to tinker with the HTML and CSS of my site. Over time, I was playing with more complex layouts (via tables and iframes). Though it was extremely tedious work at the time - it felt so wild to be able to put my own content onto the internet for everyone to see as a tween. It honestly still feels pretty wild today.
I have both a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Computer Science, because I originally wanted to be a veterinarian. Kind of a fun fact: this is my back-up career! I didn't get into any vet schools I could afford after a few attempts, so I decided to pursue a CS degree. I am so happy things went this way, though - I love what I do for work. (I still think I would have been a great veterinarian, though.)
In my spare time, I'm usually running or reading (when I feel like being productive) or doomscrolling on Bluesky (when I feel like ruining my entire day).
